An Explanation of Your Inner Parts
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a unique approach to psychotherapy that views the human mind as a complex system of interconnected parts.

-
Imagine your mind as a family: This "family" consists of different sub-personalities, each with its own unique role and perspective.
-
Some parts might be protective and try to shield you from pain (like an overprotective parent).
-
Others might be wounded and carry emotional burdens (like a scared child).
-
And there's a core Self, which is believed to be inherently wise, compassionate, and resourceful.
-
-
The goal of IFS is to:
-
Identify and understand these different parts: What are their roles? What are their needs? What are their fears?
-
Heal the wounded parts: By creating a safe and supportive environment, the therapist helps clients connect with and understand the pain of their wounded parts.
-
Empower the Self: The ultimate goal is to help clients access their core Self, which can then guide them towards healing and growth.
-
Key Concepts:
-
Parts: These are the different sub-personalities within your mind.
-

-
Polarization: When parts are in conflict with each other, creating inner turmoil.
-
Unburdening: Helping wounded parts release their pain and find healing.
